What gas top-up involves

Refrigerant runs in a sealed loop, so a unit that needs gas almost always has a leak somewhere. Topping up without finding it tends to buy a few weeks or months.

Signs of low gas include ice on the copper pipes, weak cooling on a hot afternoon, and the outdoor fan running without the room getting cold.

Newer units in Singapore commonly use R32 and many older ones use R410A. Ask the technician which gas your model takes and whether they will pressure-test for leaks.

What affects the price

We don't publish prices because they vary by company and change often. The things that move a quote for this job are: the type of unit (wall-mounted, ceiling cassette or ducted), how many units are done in one visit, how dirty the unit is, access to the outdoor condenser, and whether parts or gas are needed. Ask each company for a written quote for your exact units.
